I’ve known allergies my entire life and have always been on the hunt for alternative foods to enjoy. Within my home, during my childhood, adolescent and early adult life, I never once felt restricted; with constantly supportive parents by my side, the end result was always happiness. This led my parents and I to become proactive in my eating experience by becoming creative in the kitchen.

On the other hand, outside the home, I always felt restricted with food as there were few options available when it came to allergen-free food. As a result of harbouring these experiences, I made a conscious choice to shift my perspective and eventually came to view my allergies as a blessing in disguise. I no longer wished to feel restricted with my food choices, but to feel freedom and autonomy. I strived to eliminate all negative feelings towards my eating experience.

Enter Intuitive Eating. A sustainable way of living that allowed me to develop a positive relationship with food and my body.

Read more about this concept in my article titled, “I AM a GEM” – “Intuitive and Mindful Go Eat Mentality.”

I wished to take this journey further and so, I decided to combine my passions and pursue education in the field of Natural Nutrition. After graduating from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN), I not only gained a new perspective on the power of food in my personal life, but I felt a sense of responsibility to help others lead healthy lifestyles. By offering my knowledge, empathy and intuition in helping others to re-discover their inner hidden gem, we can all learn to approach this wonderful journey called life together, by learning to listen to our bodies, minds and spirits.

Realizing the power of food has become an eye-opening experience for me. By incorporating gradual but mighty changes into my lifestyle, the connection between body, mind and spirit continues to grow stronger and healthier every day. Holistic nutrition is intriguing because it demonstrates how our ancestors lived and how previous generations have survived so well without all of the refined, processed and junk foods that are consuming society today.

In my quest to prioritize health and wellness with myself, I hope to also guide and empower others to live optimally within the context of holistic nutrition.
